Youville
Assisted Living Residences in Cambridge is home to a diverse group of
people that all have a story to share. In an effort to foster
relationships between the older and younger generations to help them
appreciate and learn from each other, Ms. Menges' Portrait class has
partnered with Youville House on an exciting project.
Starting in mid-November and ending early January, her class of 12
CRLS students will pair up with a resident from Youville and draw their
portrait. To really understand their legacies, students will draw, take
pictures, and record interviews. Back at the classroom, the students
will transcribe the recorded stories and finalize drawings and paintings
of the residents.
To celebrate the completion of this project, in January, both
students and Youville residents will install a joint show of student and
resident artwork in Youville and attend a reception.
At Youville, their motto is "Assisted living, with the emphasis on Living". These individuals' lives will now be showcased for all to enjoy through the talented artwork and writings of CRLS students.
