On
April 11, Graham and Parks students presented a special concert for one
of the school’s namesakes, Saundra Graham. Grade 3 and 4 students
created protest signs and sang songs about civil rights to honor Ms.
Graham, who has been an activist in Cambridge since the 1970s. Fifth
Grade students also sang.
Principal Sarah Fiarman and
Superintendent Jeff Young praised Ms. Graham and thanked her for all she
has done for the citizens of Cambridge. Then Ms. Graham took to the
stage and spoke to the students about the importance of being persistent
in trying to achieve goals. The children sang Happy Birthday to Ms.
Graham, who turned 70 this year. Music teacher, Debbie Sullivan and Art
Teacher, Karen Thompson collaborated to make the concert a great
success. Ms. Graham said she was thrilled to be recognized by her
community.
