9-1-1 for Kids
is the official public education foundation for law enforcement
agencies, fire departments, emergency medical response, and 9-1-1
communication centers for the United States, Canada and the Cayman
Islands; all countries where 9-1-1 is the universal emergency response
phone number. Since its inception in 1994, the 9-1-1 for Kids program
has prepared over five million children to know what to do in an
emergency by teaching youngsters:
- How to call 9-1-1;
- When to call 9-1-1; and
- What to say to the dispatcher.
On Thursday, March 8, 2012 at 11AM, 9-1-1 for Kids will host the
Commonwealth of Massachusetts 9-1-1 Heroes Awards Ceremony at the Yard
House restaurant at Fenway Triangle in Boston. This ceremony will be
held in recognition of the heroic act made by 9-year-old Priscilla
Tsagli from Cambridge Public Schools, when she called 9-1-1 while her
mother was choking on a gel cap and helped to save her life.
Priscilla’s 4th grade class will be specials guests at this event.
The students will have the opportunity to participate in a private 9-1-1
lesson with a local public safety dispatcher and take photos with our
safety mascot. Registration begins at 10AM followed by the hero’s
ceremony at 11AM. After the ceremony, a hosted luncheon will be provided
by Yard House restaurant.
