On
Monday, January 23rd, the Peabody School celebrated the Year of the
Dragon with their annual Kindergarten Asian/Lunar New Year Parade.
Almost
80 children marched with dragons, handmade masks, paper lanterns, and
all sorts or drums, tambourines and other noisemakers.
This is a
longstanding Peabody tradition that we look forward to every year. The
entire Peabody community looked on and cheered for our youngest friends
as they made their way along the parade route.
Due
to the cold weather on Monday, we stayed in but it was a great time for
every one. Of particular note, our 7th grade was chanting Gung Hay Fat
Choy (Happy New Year) as the children went by.
The rest of the
community participated by dressing in red to symbolize good health, good
luck, and prosperity for the upcoming year.
