Dear CPS students, families, and staff -

For those of you getting ready for in-person learning next week, look for the most updated information from your schools. We can all do our part to keep schools safe with three key actions: 1) Wear A Mask, 2) Stay 6 Feet Apart, and 3) Wash Hands Frequently. You might be interested in practicing these 5 mask-wearing tips with your student or checking out the updated “Frequently Asked Questions” document. It summarizes key information from the Safety and Facilities Manual, which was approved by the School Committee on Tuesday evening.

October is National Principals Month, and a great opportunity to thank the 18 CPS leaders overseeing the most challenging school opening in modern history. Join us on social media to #ThankAPrincipal for their leadership, perseverance, and ingenuity.

Reminder that schools are closed Monday, October 12, in observance of Indigenous People's Day. Check out the National Museum of the American Indian’s live streamed event, “Youth in Action: Conversations About Our Future,” featuring young Native activists.

Updates
Afterschool, Tutoring, and Remote Learning Support Opportunities: Looking for afterschool opportunities? Remote learning support spaces? Activities? Tutoring opportunities? See these compilations from the Agenda for Children.

Reminder: Complete Your Annual Forms: Don’t forget to complete your Annual Forms, including the student health form.

School Bus Stop Updates: Find your bus stop here. Due to COVID-19 safety limitations students can only use the bus stops they are assigned to. If you want to request to change to your morning pick up or afternoon drop you must submit the Transportation Change Form and wait for confirmation from your school clerk.

Calendar Update: Election Day & Juneteenth: On Tuesday night, the School Committee voted on two important changes to the school calendar. On Tuesday, November 3, all schools buildings will be closed for Election Day and a full day of remote learning. On Friday, June 18, schools will be closed to observe Juneteenth, which was made a state holiday earlier this year to celebrate the end of slavery in the United States.

Flu Shots! It is more important than ever to get a flu shot (seasonal flu vaccine). Cambridge residents can get a free flu shot at the Cambridge Public Health Department’s flu clinics. See the flu clinic schedule and make an appointment here.
