Every December, the Educational Technology Department is excited to support the worldwide
Computer Science Education Week and
Hour of Code initiatives. In conjunction with this event, we launched our first Cambridge Public Schools Computer Science Student Contest. The contest was open to any CPS student. Students elected to complete one or more challenges. Knowing how to code was not necessary to participate in the challenges, such as listening to a story and then drawing a picture or designing a wireframe of an app. Learn more about the challenges on the
CPS CS Ed Week website.
Over 30 students in grades PreK-8 submitted projects for the various challenges. The Educational Technology Department has randomly selected winners in each of the grade level categories from all eligible entries. Congratulations to the winners!
Grades PreK-2 Winner: Lela Zhou |
“Timeline of Life”
Grades 3-5 Winner: Kaiyi Wilson |
“stop the hate!”
Grades 6-8 Winner: Nathan Greenleaf |
“Clicker Game”
Thank you to all the students who participated! We encourage you to explore all entries (for students who wished to share) in
this Slides presentation.
We are looking forward to continuing this student contest as an annual event. Until then, learn more about computer science, try out coding opportunities, listen to stories, and more on our
CPS CS Ed Week website or reach out to your school’s Instructional Technology Specialist.
