Posted on 12/06/2021

Greetings CPS community!

I would like to reiterate our commitment to student safety. It is of highest priority that we safeguard our students’ wellbeing. Below I share more details about our work to address short term needs and long term solutions regarding alleged misogyny, discrimination (including gender discrimination), sexual harassment and sexual assault at CRLS.

The Cambridge Public Health Department will be holding a third vaccine clinic on Wednesday, December 15 at CRLS from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Please note that an appointment is required. Additional information and the registration link are below.

As we finish out 2021, please check out all of the amazing celebrations and performances on the CPS District Calendar. We hope that you will be able to attend and experience our talented students!

Thank you for your continued support. I hope you have a wonderful week.

Make it Great!

Update: Action Plan to Promote Safe and Responsive Learning Environments

In recent years, there have been several efforts to elevate and address issues of misogyny, gender discrimination, sexual harassment and sexual assault in Cambridge Public Schools, including the Sexual Harassment and Assault Prevention Action Plan Recommendations developed in 2017 and follow-up School Committee order #21-141 in 2021.

Building on the steps that have already been taken at the school and district levels, we will move forward to ensure consistent implementation and monitoring of progress. In the coming weeks, we will:

  • Review the status and impact of actions implemented over the last several years;
  • Designate 2 CRLS staff members to receive specialized training and serve as in-house investigators;
  • Launch a formal, independent assessment of alleged misogyny, discrimination (including gender discrimination), sexual harassment and sexual assault at CRLS, as well as related policies, procedures, and practices; and
  • Based on that assessment’s findings and recommendations, implement improvements across the district.
See this update on our current action plan. We will continue to share updates as we progress through this work.

Student Vaccinations

See the full FAQ about student vaccinations here.

If you have not done so already, please upload proof of vaccination or submit exemption requests through the secure Family Portal as soon as possible. As a reminder, please do not share this information via email with school staff.

Nutrition Corner

A reminder that for the month of December, Food and Nutrition Services will publish a weekly menu, rather than a monthly menu, due to continued national shortages of food and packaging materials, labor and vendor delivery delays and cancellations, This will ensure the menu is as accurate as possible. A weekly menu also means there will be fewer last minute menu changes.

For any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to the Food and Nutrition Services office at 617-349-6858.
