Dear CPS Community,

It is my honor to share with you that Dr. Chad Leith has been selected as our new Director of Professional Learning & Leadership. Dr. Leith is currently the Principal of the Morse School, a position he has held for the last five years. He will begin his new role effective July 1, 2023.

Dr. Leith is a reflective and collaborative leader with extensive experience facilitating educator preparation and professional development. His previous professional roles have included classroom teacher, instructional coach, education professor, and school-based administrator. A Cambridge native, graduate of the Cambridge Public Schools, and current CPS parent, Dr. Leith earned his Bachelor’s degree in Government from Harvard, his Master’s of Education in Teaching from Boston University, and his Doctorate in Culture, Communities, and Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Prior to becoming a principal, he served for three years as a full-time faculty member at Salem State University, where he taught graduate courses, supervised student teachers, and consulted with school-based teams. He began his career as a high school teacher in the Boston Public Schools, before shifting into a district-wide instructional coaching role and later coordinating a team of teacher leaders. Dr. Leith is also a former Peace Corps volunteer who speaks Cape Verdean Creole, Portuguese, and Spanish.

We look forward to collaborating with Dr. Leith in this new capacity. I am confident that he will help strengthen the way we support the professional learning and growth of our educators so that they can best support our students.

Sincerely,

Superintendent Dr. Victoria L. Greer
