Assignment Process Update

UPDATE: The FRC has started its summer-assignment process for grades 1-8. Those families who registered their children for school between January 2, 2014 and July 8, 2014 are included in this Phase One of our summer assignments. CPS families on the Preschool-5 waitlists are also, of course, included in this process.

The assignment process is multi-layered. We anticipate mailing assignment letters by the end of July to all new-to-CPS families included in Phase One. CPS families who are on waitlists will receive a telephone call when and if a seat becomes available for your child(ren).

In the meantime, the Online Waitlist System for grades 1-5 reflects a lot of varying types of work that goes into making summer assignments; therefore, the waitlists and the System are now in a state of flux. Since the Online Waitlist System interacts with a live document, it will now represent the fluidity of the assignment process, and it may confuse parents and guardians. Please e-mail Kathy Sampson at [email protected] if you have any questions.

(Assignments for Preschool and K are ongoing, and these are not part of Phase One described above. The Online Waitlist System for Preschool and K will not experience as much flux as those for grades 1-5 because the assignment process for Preschool and K has been ongoing since the January Lottery.)

If you registered your child for grades 6-8 by July 8, 2014, then you should receive your assignment letter to an Upper School in the very near future. ALL assignments for grades 6-8 from Phase One have been made, and those letters were mailed on July 8, 2014.

Families who register for grades 1-8 after July 8, 2014 (Phase 2) will receive their assignments sometime in August.

Thank you in advance for your patience as this summer's assignments are made.
