The HR staff will work with all new employees to determine your starting salary, help you enroll in benefits programs you are eligible for, and complete beginning employment documents. Teachers new to the district will be asked to provide verification of their past teaching experience, salary, and to provide official transcripts.
You will be invited to attend one of the new employee orientation session conducted in the spring, summer and early fall so that you are provided with helpful information about working in CPS. If you have any questions, our friendly, helpful HR team is here to guide, support and welcome you.
Support for New Teachers
Teachers new to Cambridge participate in the New Teacher Induction Program coordinated by the Office of Professional Development, who will all also assign mentor teachers. New Teacher Induction begins in August and meets periodically throughout the school year as a supportive and informative forum where you can connect with colleagues and bring forth problems of practice in a safe space. New Teachers also participate in the Research for Better Teaching course, “The Skillful Teacher.”
