Message from Superintendent Greer: TikTok Challenge Re. School Violence
Posted on 12/16/2021
Good evening CPS Community,

Cambridge Public Schools strives each day to maintain a safe learning environment for all of our students and staff. It has been brought to our attention that a disturbing nationwide TikTok “challenge” encouraging school violence in the form of shootings and bomb threats is circulating across social media. I want to emphasize that no direct or indirect threat has been made towards our schools. We are sharing this information with you as it pertains to school safety and security and remaining transparent and vigilant is paramount.

We understand that students can be influenced by social media. It is always important to remain vigilant when it involves these types of threats. Please take some time to talk to your child about the pressures of social media. Please reiterate that everyone has a responsibility to share information related to the safety of our school community with the administration or a trusted adult immediately.

If you learn of anything that is concerning on social media or elsewhere about potential violence at your child’s school, please contact your Principal to share your concerns immediately.

Thank you for having these important conversations with your child and continuing to support our efforts to provide a safe learning environment for our students and staff.

Sincerely,

Dr. Victoria L. Greer
Interim Superintendent
