Professional Development

Teacher Reading to ClassCambridge Public Schools thrives on continual learning and professional development. We offer an extensive array of professional development programming for teachers that features school-based and departmental professional development, and leaves room for individual teacher choice. Recognizing that one size doesn’t fit all, each year, CPS teachers are free to elect to spend ten of 35 professional development hours in areas of their choosing in courses offered via the Office of Professional Development, schools, and curriculum offices, many of which are led by peer teachers. This option also offers CPS teachers the opportunity to exercise their leadership skills and share their expertise and best practices school and district-wide by teaching and leading peer courses. Our extensive array of partnerships with local colleges and universities, non-profit organizations and private sector companies allows Cambridge to offer a wealth of professional growth opportunities - there for the choosing and to the benefit of you and your students.
